"Letter from Recipient of the 2003 Scholarship"

Dear Mr. Plymale, 11/09/03

Hi! How are you? I just wanted to write you a letter to say thank you for the Fort Gay High School Memorial Scholarship, and to update you on how things have been going at school. I am really enjoying Marshall so far. I am taking Chemistry 211,Chemistry Lab 217,Biology Lab,Algebra, and Clinical Laboratory Science. The classes are challenging, but that inspires me to work even harder and do the very best that I can.

I am probably going to change my major from Medical Technology to Cytotechnology(which is in the same area as Medical Technology, but a little more specialized). I began to consider Cytotechnology after Margene Smith ( a Cytotechnologist at Cabell) spoke to my Clinical Lab Science class about the career. I am looking forward to registering on November 20, 2003 for my Spring classes. I plan on taking Chemistry 212,Chemistry Lab 218,Biology 121, Biology Lab,Communications, Economics, and possibly Psychology.

Next Fall I hope to began living on campus at Marshall. Even though commuting to school everyday with my Dad is okay, I am looking forward to living at Marshall and really learning to make it on my own and be more independent. I have met so many new, wonderful people at Marshall, and I really enjoy being there. So, I think living in the dorms will be a positive experience for me.

I am so grateful for the Fort Gay High School Memorial Scholarship. Going to college is expensive, and I am so thankful that I have received financial aid so I have the ability to attend. I feel privileged and honored that I was chosen as a recipient of the Fort Gay High School Memorial Scholarship, so I want to thank you and everyone who is involved. It really means so much to me, and to know that someone believes in me makes me work even harder to try to reach my goals. Again, thank you so much, and I hope when I graduate in 4 years from Marshall I make you all proud.

Sincerely,

Sarah E. Wellman
